Some feelings don't have words yet. We'll find another way in.
I'm Jodie, a licensed creative arts therapist and board-certified music therapist. I help people move through anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and life transitions using music and creative processes alongside traditional talk therapy.
Verbal therapy, plus creative channels for connection
I work therapeutically with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. My training blends verbal psychotherapy with music, mindfulness, and somatic experiences, creating space to access parts of yourself that words alone cannot always reach.
Sessions are collaborative and paced to you. Some weeks may include conversation, other weeks may involve sound, rhythm, visualization, listening to a piece of music, or improvisation. Goals may include strengthening emotional regulation, deepening self-awareness, and fostering a clearer, steadier relationship with oneself.
I earned my Master's in Music Psychotherapy from New York University and I'm a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist and Board-Certified Music Therapist in New York State.
After earning my undergraduate degree from Skidmore College, where I immersed myself in sociology, psychology, and music, I spent several years teaching in NYC schools. I was struck by the profound emotional responses students experienced through singing and music making - the way music seemed to offer release, companionship, and became a gateway for connection. During that time, I began to understand my own lifelong draw to music, for its beauty, comfort, and ability to help us feel less alone. Today, as a music psychotherapist, I feel privileged to support others in exploring themselves through music and creativity, helping them feel more connected, awake, and inspired in their lives.
Music has always been part of my life beyond the therapy room. Here's a song I recorded as part of JoLu.

FAQ
Do I need to be musical for music therapy to work?
No. No musical background or skill is required - music is used as a tool for processing and expression, not performance.
Is this different from traditional talk therapy?
We use talk therapy as a foundation and add music and creative process where it's useful - you're never required to use them if conversation is what serves you best.
Do you work with children and teenagers?
Yes. I work with preteens, teenagers, adults, and families, adapting the approach to each person's age, needs, and comfort level.
How long are sessions, and how often would we meet?
Session length and frequency can vary depending on your needs and the kind of work we're doing together. We'll talk about what makes the most sense for you during your initial consultation.
Do you accept my insurance?
I’m in-network with Aetna, Carelon Behavioral Health, Cigna/Evernorth, and Meritain Health through Liv Mental Health. I also work with some insurance plans through Headway.
What is your cancellation policy?
I ask for at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a session. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice are charged the full session fee.
